Yohor are ancient circular dances that represent the solar circle, which had an important ritual significance for the Buryat tribes.

Dancing Yohor, people are immersed in a completely new atmosphere of spiritual unity for them; it is accompanied by a chant of participants. The dance itself is not complicated, but all its power is in the energy sector, when, holding hands and moving around the sun, participants are united by a sense of unity and friendship.

For the first time the cultural project was presented in the festival format in July 2008 and with great success was held on the territory of the Ethnographic Museum of the Transbaikal peoples. The mission and goal of the event is to popularize and preserve the unique cultural heritage of the Yohor dance, to create a new format for leisure activities for the population in the new economic conditions.

Festival program "Nights of Echora" consists of several parts. The competitive program includes the participation of amateur and professional groups from all over Buryatia, as well as representatives of the Irkutsk region and the Trans-Baikal Territory, representatives of Buryat communities from Neryungri (Yakutia), Hohhoto (China), Kiev (Ukraine). Annually it is about 10 original collectives. Traditionally, the winners are determined by a competent jury composed of famous musicians, composers, actors, scientists and artists. The winners are given Tarasun - Buryat traditional milk drink and live sheep.

At each festival professional theater artists for all comers hold Master classes on the execution of Ehhor. The audience has the opportunity to learn a few verses of famous echoes.

Within the framework of the festival contests, quizzes on knowledge of traditions, customs, traditional clothes and objects of everyday life of the peoples of Buryatia are included.

The tradition was to light a big fire at night and to dance Big Yohor. Around the fire, holding hands, all the guests and participants of the festival stand, and there are more than 3 thousand of them! At this time, the grandiose fireworks soar into the summer night sky and thousands of bright stars illuminate the happy faces of people.

The Festival has its own Hymn, which is performed by the most famous singers of Buryatia.

Annually, from 4 to 6 thousand inhabitants and guests of Buryatia become direct participants of the "Night of Echor" in the Ethnographic Museum. Guests of the festival were the State Dance Ensemble of Mongolia, the State Song and Dance Ensemble "Tulip" (Kalmykia), the rock band "Attraction Voronova" (Irkutsk) and other groups. About the festival they write not only all the media of Buryatia, but also regional, Russian media. The creative group of the channel "Russia" with the traveler Mikhail Kozhukhov came specially to photograph the reportage.
